Sandra will be providing Reiki treatments at the Navitas Centre and will also provide Reiki home visits for anyone requiring daily care, which prevents them from traveling to the Navitas Centre.

Below is Sandra’s personal Reiki journey in her own words.

“I spent the majority of my career working in the financial services sector in various sales and management positions. As is the norm these days, redundancy meant a change of direction. I decided to do something totally different and started a Lawn care Franchise, treating, scarifying and aerating people’s lawns. This was a wonderful opportunity to observe nature throughout the seasons and help people to improve their lawns.  Again, as people get older their gardens become more difficult to maintain, I loved building relationships with those clients, watching their gardens develop and bringing them pleasure through their gardens. The business grew considerably over the five years I ran it and became a 6.5 day a week commitment during the growing season.

Due to my parents failing health I decided to sell the franchise so I could spend more time looking after them and I am so grateful I took this step. My father experienced severe shoulder pain caused by lifting and handling my mother who suffered from Dementia and Parkinson’s disease. I felt frustrated that I couldn’t help more. Watching those you love struggling with every day basics like getting dressed and washed, needing help to get in and out of a chair, going to the bathroom and eating their meals is hard to deal with.

The Doctor had started giving steroid injections for my father’s shoulder pain, but said it wouldn’t heal because he was unable to stop lifting. My mother’s condition had progressed to a stage where she became very depressed and abusive to my father, something she would never have done before her illness. The Parkinson’s often caused her to fall over and her speech was deteriorating. I was determined to do everything I could to keep my mother as well as possible for as long as possible and to take some of the strain from my father.

I began to explore types of healing and when I discovered Reiki I knew it was something I wanted to try. I did my initial training and treated family and friends. I found that Reiki helped my father manage his shoulder pain without the use of steroids, and he was less stressed caring for my mother. My mother has always been supportive of anything I have done, so even when she was having a bad day as a result of her conditions, she would allow me to work on her. I found she became quieter and less abusive to my father.  Her blood pressure reduced to normal levels and the shaking she regularly experienced lessened after a treatment.  I feel blessed to have found Reiki to help me and my family through very difficult times and I want everyone to know that it can make a difference to the quality of life for all involved.

Seeing the effect Reiki had on those I treated and the feedback they gave, I knew very quickly I wanted to build my knowledge and experience to eventually become a Reiki Practitioner.  I wanted to help lots more people manage their life challenges with the help of Reiki energy.  My path also led me to qualify in the use of Bioenergy which compliments Reiki.

I have been fortunate to study under Simon Bailey for the advanced levels of Reiki and energy work. Now having built up my treatment hours with many different clients together with volunteering at the Donna Louise Hospice in Stoke and supporting events for Warrington and Cheshire Carers, I am looking forward to joining Simon and Kate’s team at Navitas to continue to offer Reiki treatments.

I know in the case of my parents they would not have travelled to see a practitioner, especially my mother because any change became frightening and a trip to the Doctors or the hairdresser became a major trauma.  I am sure there are many others who would really benefit from Reiki but due to their condition would be unable to travel to the Navitas Holistic Centre for treatment.

I am able to offer Reiki home visits in the Crewe and Nantwich area for anyone who is unable to travel to the Navitas Centre, enabling you or your loved ones to still have the opportunity to benefit from this wonderful treatment.”
