Facial Reflexology treatment

The face always provides a great way to read what is going on within the body. Our face is our most visible feature and you can often tell when someone is feeling tired, stressed, anxious or a glowing picture of health simply by looking at them!

Facial Reflexology shares the same principles as hand and foot Reflexology.  Based on the theory that areas of your face are connected to different parts of your body via the nervous system, it is believed that stimulating or calming these reflexes can enhance the body’s own natural healing processes.

Facial Reflexology allows the entire body to receive a treatment through the face. A range of massage movements and therapeutic Reflexology techniques are used to calm, relax, and gently stimulate out of balance reflexes on the face to encourage balance and self-healing.

The Bergman Method of Facial Reflexology has been developed through a number of Native American techniques and Asian bodymaps, combined with Zone Therapy, which forms the basis for modern Reflexology.

Facial Reflexology is an especially powerful treatment due to the proximity of the face to the brain and cranial nerves. It is excellent way to rebalance reflexes and through regular treatments, can provide a way to improve overall health and wellbeing.

Facelift massage includes the best of a number of facial massage techniques, including Japanese Face Massage, Facial Rejuvenation Massage, Tui Na and Indian Face Massage, amongst others.  Facelift Massage has a stimulating and rejuvenating effect and is the perfect add on to enhance the cosmetic effects of Facial Reflexology.

What are the benefits of Facial Reflexology?

The benefits of Facial Reflexology are similar to those of any other Reflexology treatment, which means that Facial Reflexology can aid relaxation, improve sleep, provide relief from tension, anxiety and stress, boost energy levels and give an improved sense of general wellbeing.

However, Facial Reflexology also has the wonderful advantage of including a deeply soothing facial massage, which works to release tension and free constrictions within the facial muscles and connective tissue. This stimulates blood flow and allows drainage of the lymphatic system.

When tension in the face is released, it can result in a much smoother, brighter complexion.  So, not only will Facial Reflexology will leave you feeling thoroughly relaxed, with the assistance of some soothing massage techniques and gorgeous Neal’s Yard facial oils, it will also give you a lovely glow.  A series of treatments can also help provide a reduction in lines, wrinkles and an improvement in skin tone.  It’s also the perfect treatment to counteract the effects of a busy, stressful lifestyle!

How often should I have Facial Reflexology?

There are no hard and fast rules as to how often you should have any complementary therapy treatments. If you have the time, budget and the desire you can have Facial Reflexology treatments as often as you like.

However, the frequency advised will depend upon your reason for seeking treatments. It is usually best to begin with a course of treatments closer together, gradually moving to maintenance treatments with more time in between. If you are seeking treatments to deal with a specific issue, or for cosmetic benefits in addition to improving health and wellbeing then these will ideally begin as weekly treatments.

If you wish to have Facial Reflexology purely as a treat to look forward to, then monthly would be ideal, or a treatment as a pamper every now and again is fine too.  The ultimate decision as to how many treatments you have lies with you, your Reflexologist can only guide you. Everyone is different and you will be the best judge as to how you feel following treatments, how long the benefits last and therefore often you should receive treatments.

While Facial Reflexology is a therapy suitable for many people it is complementary to traditional medicine and should never be used in place of care from your primary healthcare providers. Complementary therapies are not a substitute for medical care. If you have, or suspect you have a health problem then you should always consult your GP.
